Master of Business Administration (MBA)

VISION : To empower young women with managerial skills and knowledge necessary to lead a business and contribute to its growth.


MISSION : To provide all round development of young managers by imparting managerial skills and knowledge, along with exposure to the real business world through interaction with industrial experts, and emphasis on corporate social responsibility.


ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT : The Department of Management Studies was established in the year 2006 and introduced the MBA course with two specializations; Human Resources (HR) and Finance (Fin). The faculty comprises of a team of dedicated professionals with vast experience in their respective disciplines. To bridge the gap between the Institution and the Industry, a student chapter named Hyderabad Management Association (HMA) was opened in the college in the year 2012. This association offers the students with an opportunity to understand the industrial environment, work culture and prepares them for the corporate life.


STRENGTHS OF THE DEPARTMENT :

DEPARTMENT OBJECTIVES :

1. To develop and create young managers with knowledge and skills that makes them competent in the global business world.
2. To facilitate and promote women empowerment while retaining and maintaining the traditional, social and human values.
3. To increase the intake to 120 students and introduce two new specializations, Systems and Marketing.


Program Educational Objectives (PEO's) :

1. To help students build effective communication skills by eliminating their fears and inhibitions.
2. To achieve good placements and generate references with consistent and sustained alumni performance.
3. To inculcate a social responsibility in the students by involving them in practical social service programs.
4. To offer a blend of both theoretical & practical knowledge through industrial visits & guest lecturers with industrial expertise who share the best practices.

Program Outcomes (POs) :

1. To teach the fundamentals of business environment and business organizations in all aspects to become good business managers.
2. To enhance analytical and problem solving skills to facilitate decision making.
3. To instill professional ethics to maintain the image of the organization and growth in the long run.
4. To improve inter-personal skills at work and prepare students for a multi-cultural environment in the modern globalized business scenario.
5. To develop entrepreneurial skills and encourage self employment.
6. To define the objectives at micro level and direct the performance towards achievement of short/long term goals.
7. To take the students to places like orphanages and old age homes to help them understand and realize their responsibility towards the society and the under privileged.
8. To involve the students in group discussions, elocution and debate competitions on National and International current affairs to improve their knowledge, awareness and communication skills.

DEPARTMENT LIBRARY : The Department Library contains 20 Titles with 67 copies. The Department Library is periodically updated with latest titles with sufficient number of copies as per the syllabus. In addition to the above, the central library has 937 book titles with 5527 volumes.

The Library has subscribed to 32 National and 11 International journals, out of which 8 National and 2 International journals were subscribed in the current year. The college has also subscribed for 7037 e-journals which contain around 3000 management journals.

Head of the Department MBA :

Prof.Bandhakavi Subba Rao
Joined in Sridevi Women's Engineering College as Head of the Department of Management studies in January 2012 and has completed 5 years of full time experience in addition to previous 7 years part time service. He has 35 years of versatile industrial experience and was a Founder Head of corporate social responsibility (CSR) Dept in a Government of India Enterprise, a Navratna company. He acquired the Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical from the Government College of Engineering, Kakinada. He did his Masters of Business Administration in HR from Osmania University and M.Tech in Industrial Engineering and Management from JNTU, Hyderabad. He focuses on the all round development of the students and makes them corporate ready by bridging the gap between the industry and the institution. He mentors the students and helps them improve their communication skills and inter personal skills. He strongly believes in the upliftment of the society and tries to instill the same in every student. He focuses on the placement of MBA students in MNC's and strives for 100% placement.

PROFESSOR PROFILE :

Dr. Uppugunduri Padmavathi, Professor
M.com, MBA, M. Phil, NET, ACMA, Ph.D


        Dr. U. Padmavathi has done her Ph.D on “Corporate Governance in the Defense, Public Sector Enterprises of India, from the Department of Business Management, Osmania University Hyderabad. She is a graduate, Rastra Bhasha Praveena, from Dakshin Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha, Chennai. She is an Associate member of Cost Accountants of India.

       She started her career as a lecturer in Sri Padmavathi Mahila Kalasala, Hyderabad, in 1987. She worked in multiple colleges across Hyderabad in various capacities as lecturer, professor, HOD, Controller of Examinations etc. She visited University of Texas, Austin, USA, in connection with academic relations and curriculum & pedagogy for Business Management students. She has vast experience in the functional area of Finance and is the paper setter for several autonomous colleges.

       She has reviewed several chapters in the book “Security Analysis and Portfolio Management”, Published by Tata MC Graw Hill. She has presented papers in several National and International conferences.

       She conducted several training programs for National and International participants representing more than ten countries from Electricity Dept, at CIRE, Hyderabad. She was a guest faculty for management students of CDE programs at B.R.Ambedkar Open University. She has organized National Level workshops and Seminars on emerging areas of Finance, HR and Marketing. She also coordinated tours and cultural activities for students of Business Schools and Management Colleges, at various institutions. She focuses on the development of research instinct and skills among the staff and students and supports their all-round development both personally and professionally.

INFRASTRUCTURE :

The Department has spacious classrooms with abundant ventilation and LCD Projector with screen for audio visual learning. The Department also has a computer lab with 60 systems connected to a server for taking care of lab related subjects such as statistical data analysis, annual report analysis and so on.
