Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE)

About Department

Electrical Engineering is one of the oldest and fundamental branches of science and technology from which all other modern branches of engineering evolved. Electrical and Electronics engineers work in a variety of fields including power sector, machine design, renewable energy sector, biomedical engineering, aerospace industry, communications industry and information technology.

The department was started in 2001 with an intake of 60 students and is headed by Dr. D. Padmavathi, Ph.D. The department has well established laboratories and has well qualified and dedicated faculty.  The students of the department are regularly exposed to the latest trends in the field of electrical and electronics engineering through regular industrial visits, guest lectures and workshops.


Attracting the finest students by creating an intellectually stimulating atmosphere to train and empower our women engineers with global skills and proficient technical knowledge in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

Mission :

To educate our students and encourage them to contribute in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering through integration, application and transfer of knowledge. We encourage industry institution interaction to develop hardware and software products required for the industry through consultancy and also help solve their problems by undertaking R & D projects.

Strength of the Department :

• 17 well experienced and highly qualified teaching Faculty and 3 Non-teaching staff.
• Good infrastructure with class rooms, seminar hall, staff room, department library, centralized internet center and R & D Cell.
• We conduct laboratories in Electrical Machines, Networks, Measurements, Control Systems, Power Electronics, and Power Converters.
• Department has got computational facility with ten systems and also MATLAB, MULTISIM licensed software.
• The students are placed in top MNCs like IBM, Tech Mahindra, Infosys, Wipro, Microsoft, Oracle, HSBC, HCL, Syntel etc.
• We encourage students and staff to present and publish the papers, research articles in reputed international / national conferences and journals.
• Students of EEE actively participate and achieve remarkable appreciations & prizes in co-curricular activities like Paper Presentations, Project Expos, National Level Symposiums, Internship Programs, Sports and other cultural activities in various engineering colleges.
• Students participate in Social Activities like NCC (National Cadet Corp) Village Campaigns, Blood Donation Camps and Environmental Awareness Programs.

Programme Educational objectives (PEO's):

PEO I : To provide a good foundation in mathematics, sciences and engineering fundamentals required to solve engineering problems that will facilitate them to find employment in industry and / or to pursue postgraduate studies with an appreciation for lifelong learning.

PEO II : To provide analytical and problem solving skills to design hardware and inculcate professional ethics, inter-personal skills to work in a multi-cultural team.

PEO III : To expose the state of the art software / hardware tools, imbibing creativity and innovation that would enable them to develop cutting-edge technologies of multi-disciplinary nature for societal development.

PEO IV : To provide facilities to work on research problems leading to solutions to problems of the industry and improving student's knowledge in areas beyond syllabus.

PEO V : To train the students to acquire knowledge in current and future technologies in advanced power electronics, Industrial drives and power systems.

Programme Outcomes (PO's):

• Ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice.

Program Specific Program Outcome :

Ability to apply technical skills and modern engineering tools, to develop new products useful to the industry and the society.

Ability to apply the knowledge in the domain of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, to demonstrate their proficiency through experimentation, modeling and realization.

HOD Profile :

Dr. D.Padmavathi, B.E., M.E., Ph.D., LMISTE, FIETE, IEEE received her B.E in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Gulbarga university in 1990, M.E in Electrical Power Systems from Bangalore University and received her PhD in Power systems and High voltage Engineering from JNTUH in 2011.

She has over 25 years of teaching experience in various engineering colleges including as HOD (EEE) at JBIET for 10 years and at Vignana Bharathi Institute of Technology for 3 years. She is also an active member of LMISTE, FIETE & IEEE.

She has organized a couple of National conferences and also co-coordinated many activities like Workshops, FDP'S, Guest lecture's in her career .

She has also published over 50 papers in International conferences and Journals. She has authored a text book on Electromagnetic fields. She was invited to many National /International conferences and delivered talks there. She has delivered over 20 Guest lectures in various prestigious Engineering Colleges.

Infrastructure of the Department :

EEE department has well equipped laboratories to conduct experiments as per JNTUH curriculum and also has facilitiesto conduct experiments over and above the syllabus.

The aim of R & D Incubation Center is to promote training in practical aspects of engineering and involve students in research & development.

The students are trained in writing research papers to be presented in seminars and are involved in R&D activities of professors for exposure. They are also trained in PLC software, embedded systems, MATLAB, MULTISIM and LABVIEW.

Every year students undergo training in various aspects of EEE.

II year: Students are trained in design and simulation of electrical / electronic circuits
III year : Students carry out in house Mini projects
IV year : Students complete in house Major Projects

Ms. K. Srividya, bearing Roll No. 11D21A0251, of III B. Tech. EEE, Won 1st Prize in CIRCUITRON – Circuit design competition and 3rd Prize in EUREKA – IEEE paper presentation in KSHITIJ 2014 at IIT KHARAGPUR held from 31.01.2014 to 03.02.2014.

EEE, Won 3 rd Prize in Anveshana – 14 " A Science andEngineering fair" for the project " Energy Conservation through Street Lights using Zigbee" conducted by Agastya International Foundation held from 6th to 7th January 2014. • Ms. T Sreedevi, bearing Roll No. 11D21A0248 of III B. Tech. EEE participated in Kuchipudi dance competition held by Mauritius Govt. during 21st to 4th March 2014.
